Family Selection Process
With so many families struggling to find safe, decent, affordable housing to call home, we would love to help them all realize their dreams. Our goal is to help all these families in our area, one family at a time. Here is our process to match a deserving family with a Habitat home:
| Process | Week Started |
|---|---|
| Form a Family Selection Committee among the Habitat MBA Board and volunteers | 1 |
| Advertise that we're looking for a deserving family to place in our next home | 3 |
| Host an Applicant Workshop to work with families to complete the applications | 8 |
| Close application process to new applicants | 9 |
| Review applications and request any missing information from applicants | 13 |
| Missing information due from applicants | 17 |
| Complete telephone interviews with families | 21 |
| Complete home visits with families | 25 |
| Family Selection Committee presents recommendations to entire Board | 27 |
| Issue final Letter of Status and sign contract with partner family | 29 |
| Begin construction | 31 |
Searching for Our 8th Partner Family
As we have available land for another Habitat house, we have begun our search for a partner family to call it home. The application process is now open to new applicants and we are reviewing each application to determine how many applicants meet our selection criteria. Applications must be received by November 27, 2006. We are hoping to have our 8th partner family selected by the end of 2006. We can't wait to learn more about our prospective partner families!
For those who unfortunately are not selected, we will keep your contact information on file to notify you when we next open applications for our 9th partner family, likely during 2007. Click here to e-mail us for more information.
