Youth United - Developing Leadership

What is Youth United?

Youth United (YU) is a Habitat for Humanity program for youth ages 5-25. The YU leader and team motto is: “Raise Awareness, Raise Funds, Raise the Roof.” YU leadership opportunities (and year-round family activities) teach our youth to help fulfill a family’s dream of home ownership, create lifetime friendships and have fun while contributing to eliminate poverty housing in our local area.

How Youth United Helps Develop Tomorrow's Leaders

Involvement with Youth United helps today's young people become our leaders of tomorrow. Here are just some of the skills our volunteers can expect to gain:

How is Youth United structured?

Youth United is run by a representative of the Habitat for Humanity Millstone Basin Area board, Jenne McCarthy. She helps coordinate all Youth United activities within our area with the help of many dedicated people, some of whom serve on one of the following committees:

  • Steering Committee
    • Manages the overall program progress
    • Interacts with subcommittees and groups
    • Reports back to board of directors
  • Publicity Committee
    • Newsletter articles
    • Web site updates
    • Flyers
    • Advertising
  • Fundraising Committee
    • Monitors fund collection
    • Approves event schedule
  • Building Committee
    • Schedules work groups
