What Does Publicity Have to do with Youth United?
EVERYTHING!!! Publicity is not just about what you read in print or see on television; publicity is building awareness through repetition, positioning and brand recognition. Think about popular brands; you can probably associate at least one or two thoughts or feelings to those brands just by thinking of the image in your head. Both at Habitat and at Youth United, we're working hard to build positive publicity through many of the same techniques used by large corporations, only with a much smaller budget! We want to build public awareness of our mission to continue to gain momentum and help as many needy families in our community as possible.

July 2003 News
Habitat for Humanity has always had many volunteers ranging from all ages. Although building a house meant that one must be 16 years of age or older, our affiliate has expanded what our area youth can do – learn leadership skills, join fund raising teams and help with work on the site for the youth-built house. Even though not all of the interested young volunteers can work on building of a house, they are still very important to the success of Habitat.
In the summer of 2003, a group of teenagers from Habitat for Humanity Youth United (YU) effort are helping in behind-the-scenes work in the Millstone Basin Affiliate, to help begin meeting a fund raising goal for the 2004 Habitat “youth-built” home. The group, known as the Red Team, has been busy making plans for two car washes in the month of July. The first of the two events will be held at Lawrence High School on the evening of Wednesday July 16 (4:30-7:00PM). The second will be held at Lucar Hardware in Princeton Junction on the morning of Saturday, July 19th (10-12AM). If these events are successful, then the Red Team would like to plan at least two more car washes for the month of August and some more for the fall.
The Red Team hopes, that with the success of these events, they will be able to plan more events for the upcoming fall fund raising for the Youth United house. If you’re interested in being part of the YU team, email Kelly Spors and she will fill you in about the YU team, individual and family efforts that we’re planning.
